DiCaprio and Mulligan and Luhrman, OH MY!
IT’S HERE! IT’S HEEERRRRREEEE!
The Roaring Twenties may arguably be the most fabulous decade in American history, and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby is arguably one of the most fabulous pieces of literature to come from the 20th century. Now take Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Baz Luhrman, and a ridiculous amount of drool-worthy costumes, throw them all together, and you get what’s sure to be the most fabulous movie of the Christmas season!
The official trailer for The Great Gatsby has FINALLY been released, and I can honestly say that it did not disappoint. Leo looks incredible as the mysterious (and in this case, gorgeous) Jay Gatsby, and Carey Mulligan is sure to shine as Daisy Buchanan, the object of Gatsby’s affections, and the character thought to be inspired by Fitzgerald’s wife, Zelda. Tobey Maguire plays Nick Carraway, a young guy from Minnesota who moves to New York in 1922 to learn about the bond business. He settles on Long Island and is Gatsby’s neighbor, observing all of the mysterious man’s ridiculously lavish and crazy parties. Carraway is also Daisy’s cousin, and thus gets sucked into the love affair between her and Gatsby and all the drama that comes with it.
In true Baz Luhrman fashion, the period-piece will definitely have a modern twist, and features music from the likes of Kanye and Jay-Z. If you have never seen a film directed by Luhrman, I order you to immediately go out and rent Moulin Rouge, and Romeo + Juliet! I promise you, you will not be sorry you did so. I’m a huge fan of Baz’s movies and can hardly wait for his adaptation of one of my favorite novels.
Watch the trailer for the highly anticipated film below. AAAHH IT GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS!
