MUST SEE COLLECTION: Elie Saab Spring 2012 Haute Couture

“Couture.”

It just sounds expensive. Thank gawd the French were in charge of creating this word. Do you know what it translates to in English? “High sewing.” On a fancy scale of 1 to 10 the phrase “high sewing” racks in at about -8. It’s the glamour-equivalent of “narrow loaf.” But do you know what the French call a “narrow loaf?” A “baguette.” See? The French know what’s up.

Haute couture designer, Elie Saab, may not be French (he’s actually Lebanese), but his designs speak the language fluently. Have you ever seen a dress so stunning and so gorgeously perfect that the only word that could describe it is “GAAAAAHHH”? Have you ever seen 44 of these dresses in a row?

Here is Elie Saab’s Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection. 44 dresses so beautiful…so elegant…so delicate, and so perfectly lovely that they’re almost dreamlike. The thing is, every Elie Saab collection is like this. Seriously, you can see for yourself in Elle.com’s archive collections.

Every time I view an Elie Saab show I think, “Okay this one! This collection is my favorite!” And then, the next collection comes along and…”GAAAAHHH!”

Elie Saab is a genius. Actually, no, “genius” doesn’t do him justice. What’s French for “genius?”…”Génie.” There we go! Elie Saab…”un génie.”
