Emma Watson Has Me Swooning Over Peter Pilotto’s Spring 2013 Collection
Hermione Granger may no longer be with us (honestly, I really need to get over it…it’s just…I’m finding it really…*sob*…hard…to just…*sob*…let go, ya know?) but it seems as if Emma Watson is still playing the role of loyal best friend. Except, this time it’s not to Harry and Ron (ohmygaaawd I miss them SO much!) but to British fashion labels!
Emma Watson became a Burberry spokeswoman in 2009, during an era I’d like to call the “pre-pixie period.” The adorable actress and designing genius/fellow Brit, Christopher Bailey, became buds, but it wasn’t until the haircut-seen-round-the-world that Emma’s membership in the fashion world was cemented. It was as if the fashion gods came down and gifted her the beautiful, glamourous, and obviously super-flattering, cloak of visibility! (Okay, okay, okay, that’s the final Harry Potter reference, I swear!)
Needless to say, from that point on, Emma really stepped up her red carpet game. Her new hair gave her a new attitude – a sexy, sophisticated, daring one – and her fashion looks naturally followed suit! It’s totally paid off, too! I’ve yet to see Emma in something that doesn’t make me want to create a shrine in her name. The girl takes risks and always pulls them off because the fashion looks she chooses are daring, but in the right way. She’s not daring in the sense that she shows a lot of skin or wears looks meant to completely shock us, but daring in the sense that she gravitates toward bold patterns and colors, along with modern and sometimes futuristic-looking silhouettes. And Emma can pull these off because she’s young (and gorgeous) and has an air about her that says, “I am totally confident and comfortable in my own skin.”
This, therefore, makes her the perfect candidate for up-and-coming designers with flavor, originality, and, oh yes…UK citizenship! Emma likes to support and represent her country in a fashionable way, wearing looks created by UK-based designers. Her favorite designing duo of late appears to be Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos of the London-based brand, Peter Pilotto.
Emma wore a dress from their Resort 2013 collection at the most recent MTV Video Music Awards, and last night she chose yet another brilliant Peter Pilotto design (this time a shorter version of a dress from their Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear collection) to wear to the People’s Choice Awards! I was obsessed with both designs the minute I saw them, so I checked out the rest of the Spring 2013 Peter Pilotto collection and it is beyond amazing. Structured silhouettes with some fun billowy bits in all the right places; colorful cut-outs; off-the-wall patterns that are crazy-stunning; and colors that are so candy-licious you just want to devour them! The collection is fashion Prozac! It’s as if the designers were able to bottle the essence of spring and present it as clothing. Eye orgasms off the chain! Oh, I am so in love!
The brilliant Emma Watson will continue to make her fabulous mark in the fashion world. And you can bet she doesn’t need any magic to help her do it.
